In late 2025, YouTuber Nick Shirley went viral after alleging $110 million in fraud at mostly Somali-owned daycare centers in Minnesota. The claims prompted a nationwide childcare payment freeze by HHS and praise from top Trump officials. However, state inspections in January 2026 found the featured centers operating normally, with investigators disputing Shirley’s evidence. The controversy has since raised safety concerns for both Shirley and daycare owners. | Purple Room Politics
