As of the 1pm CDT Monday (October 27th) update from the NHC, Hurricane Melissa is an extremely powerful Category 5 storm with maximum sustained winds of 175 miles per hour and a minimum central pressure of 906 millibars. It's now up there with some of the strongest hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin in recorded history. Melissa is forecast to make landfall in Jamaica early Tuesday morning as a Cat 5 storm.
